Hope House Counsellors went to Fellowship Bible School in Ottery and treated the Teachers to a pamper day. They were given manicures, facials and massages. A wonderful tea and then each teacher received a gift bag of goodies and treats. Great fun was had by all.

Baby Bags get a boost

We were so blessed when Ailsa Williamson had a birthday, she asked folk to bring a gift for a baby, and so our "Baby Bag"project got a huge boost with lovely baby gros, blankets, nappies and loads of toiletries. These will be given to the moms at the Retreat Maternity Unit, by the ladies who visit there on a Thursday and Saturday.
Thank you ladies for blessing these moms, through your generous gifts.

The new counsellor training course will be starting on Thursday 15th July at 9.30am. As places are limited if you wish to do this course please contact Glenda on 0217150424 as soon as possible to book your place.
The last course graduated in June and we look forward to the new one beginning.
Well it has been awhile, but life at Hope House has been steaming ahead at a fast paste. The Perinatal Mental Health Project at False Bay Hospital has been given the green light and we have already identified a counsellor, all we are waiting for is Funding. This is a very exciting project which we are linking with the Perinatal side of UCT Psychiatry and Mental Health to offer at the Hospital. All pregnant women will be screened for mental illness ( depression etc) and offered on site, immediate counselling. We will have a facility at the clinic so the women will be seen at the time of their hospital appointments.
It has been recognised that poverty, crime, abuse and being a teenage mom all contribute to mental health issues, which will inturn affect the baby. So this project has far reaching effects.
So if you know of and would be willing to Fund this project please contact Judy at Hope House 0217150424

TRAUMA COUNSELLING

Hope House is training counsellors in trauma counselling for Human Trafficking for dealing with the effects of trafficking on those affected. Especially during the 2010 world cup.
This is a new branch of counsellor training for us and I hope will be the first of many opportunities to equip others.

CHARITY SHOP

We have decided to sell the charity shop and it has now been taken over by the NGO Help a Rural Child.
This was a necessary step due to our manager leaving and the work of overseeing the shop was too much for Allen & Judy with all the other commitments they have. we feel that this is what God wants for us at this time
